I know it’s been a long time…

since I posted anything.  Life, as it happens to from time to time, threw me a couple of curve balls.  Fortunately everything is working out and most things are pretty much back to normal.  I have been meaning to post over the last 2 – 3 weeks but every time I started to write I seemed to get side tracked.  So here is a brief and incomplete summary of life since my last post

1. My mom was diagnosed with a blood condition similar to leukemia.  She has been undergoing treatment and is making great progress.  I am obviously very thankful about this and I am hopeful she will make a complete recovery.  Her Dr. is very optimistic that she will.

2. I have been on a couple of business trips or I guess you could say one really long one.  I left one Sunday for Los Angeles and stayed there working for 4 days.  Then I flew to Buffalo, NY and worked for 3 days.  Then I came home and slept.

3.  I am not working as much as I used to.  I still have long days but I am now taking most weekends off and leaving at a reasonable time most nights.

4.  I am still working out semi-regularly.  My eating is better overall but there are times when I fall off the wagon.  Damn you Tex Mex and BBQ.  And ice cream. Damn you ice cream.

5. I am having about 20 family members at my house for a party on July 5th.  Yep, not the 4th but the 5th.  I am the most non-redneck member of my family, which is not saying a whole lot.  It should be interesting to say the least.

6.  I have a vacation planned for September.  I am heading to Scotland to stay with friends for 10 days.  I am really looking forward to this.  I am hoping to make a couple of football (soccer) games, fish and make it to the Highlands again.

7.  I have been hitting a few summer movies.  Indiana Jones and Iron Man so far.  Maybe the Hulk this weekend.  I am looking forward to Batman.  Yeah I go for the real sophisticated stuff. *L*

8. I have had a lot of cravings lately.  Sexual and food cravings.  I imagine I have a better chance of getting some turtle soup than I do fucking some hot, willing naughty lady over my desk.  Oh well.  I really do like turtle soup.

9.  I am reading a book about the dust bowl, “The Worst Hard Time”.  If you are a fan of non fiction and American History, this book is outstanding.

10.  I have been listening to the latest release from Al Green on my iPod.  As well as the soundtrack from the musical “Jersey Boys”.  I am a bit eclectic for a Cajun. *L*

11.  I am learning more of the business at work.  I will be buying into the company in another couple of years.  I have a lot to pick up in the meantime but I am excited about the future.  If I can make the effort and do what I need to I should be fairly comfortable financially.  Nothing is guaranteed of course but I enjoy this so much more than working for a big company.

12.  The death of George Carlin was a real downer for me.  I have been a fan of his since I was 11 or 12.  My mom let me listen to his albums back in the day.  While I may not have agreed with everything he said he was an absolute genius.  He will be sorely missed.

13. I am making myself a promise to post at least twice a week.  Hopefully more but at least that much.

14.  I have decided on the new camera I want, a Nikon D 60.  I think.  Maybe a D 40.  Or a Cannon.  Oh well, I guess I had better shop some more.

15.  For the first time that I can remember I am not excited about the Olympics coming up.  Not sure why that is.

Well that is enough for now.  I have more thoughts that I want to share but I need to get them a bit more organized before I do.
