Checking in…

not much excitement but overall life has been good lately.

- I started in a fitness class at my gym.  Monday and Wednesday nights, and Saturday morning.  Monday is cardio and Wednesday and Saturday are strength training.  I am going to add 1 - 2 cardio workouts to go along with these workouts.  Progress.  It’s slow but getting there.

- Mom is improving by the day it seems.  The Dr. said only one more round of chemo treatments.

- Work is good but not chaotic.  The last two weeks I have worked less than I have all year.  The additional workouts are taking time, but they are time for me.  That is a good thing.

- I can’t wait for vacation.  Only 7 weeks to go.

- I wish I had something really fun, naughty or exciting to add.  But I am happy and making changes.  Too slow but still changes that are positive.

I will post more tomorrow.  Heading to a meeting. :)

A few things…

about me…just in case anyone is interested.

- I am 6′4″ tall.  I have salt and pepper hair and a goatee.  I have size 14 shoes.  You know what that means right??? ;)  Yep, big socks. :D

- I am a mechanical engineer.  I have a masters degree.  I am a registered P.E.

- My dad’s side of the family is Cajun.  So I am technically only half a coonass.  But really, it only takes a little bit of the Cajun blood to bring one around.

-  I am in my 40’s.  Still.  Thankfully.  For a few more years.

- I ran a marathon once.  I would love to be in marathon shape again.  Not to necessarily run another one but to be in that good of cardio condition.

- I love to cook.  And eat.

- My musical tastes are very eclectic.

- I enjoy the theater.  And movies.  And reading.

- I love all sorts of sensual pleasures.  I am very open minded.  I love to flirt, tease, and play.

- I am a dog person.  I am allergic to cats.

- I tend to be more of a morning person but I can easily be talked into sleeping in.

I checked and could not see that I had done a post like this before.

The holiday weekend…

was outstanding.  Completely exhausting but outstanding.  I ended up with almost 30 people at my house on Saturday.  Thank goodness for the friends and family that helped me get through it.  I was pretty much spent on Sunday and spent the day resting.  A brief summary of the 3 days and yesterday:

- On Friday I decided to do my yard work before meeting the trainer at the gym.  Not the best idea I have ever had. *L*  I survived but I was spent afterwards.

- Saturday was a busy but fun day.  I saw some people I had not seen in over a year.  It was great to get reacquainted.   The fireworks were a hit.  As was the deer sausage.  I had to have a little redneck food for the party. ;)

- Several people commented that I had lost weight since they had seen me last.  A great compliment but also a reminder of how easily it is for me to add weight and difficult to take it off.

- I have been eating sushi a lot lately.  Specifically seared and peppered tuna.

- On Sunday I watched some DVD’s.  “The Great Debaters” and “Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead” were very good.  Marisa Tomei is still smoking hot IMO.

- While I was far from perfect in my eating this past weekend, and probably always will be to some extent, I am getting better.  Lots more fruits, vegetables and lean protein.  I have found that I really like Greek yogurt.  Mixed with a little honey or fruit it is a good substitute for ice cream.

- I hit the treadmill yesterday for 40 minutes during lunch.  The treadmill of death tried to kill me.  It almost succeeded.

- I need to get a little more rest and a lot more naughtiness.  Not sure how I am going to go about getting those two to merge into my life, but I will get there.

So one post before…

heading off for a three day weekend.  I plan on staying out of the office, away from the computer and out in the sunshine and water.  Just a few quick notes.  Some of this is boring and mundane but I am feeling good about things overall so bear with me here.

- Mom is improving more than the Dr’s imagined.  She gets another blood test on Monday and it is possible she may be able to forego this next round of chemo treatments.  She is feeling better than she has in months.  I am hopeful she can skip this next set of treatments and continue to improve.

- One Uncle and Aunt arrive today.  They are staying through the weekend but are a big help so Saturday should not be a hectic as it could be.  I start grilling tonight and will be every day through the weekend.  I am doing BBQ chicken tonight.  Buffalo steaks on the 4th of July and burgers, dogs and cajun sausage on the 5th when the big crowd shows up.

- Heading out at lunch to spend way too much on fireworks.

- Bought the Nikon D40 with and extra lens and 2 GB memory card from Costco.com today.  It should be at my house in a couple of weeks.  I got a good deal on a good camera.  I can’t wait to try it out.  I will be posting pictures.  Any requests???

- I worked out with a trainer at the gym last night.  It was humbling to say the least.  It was brutal.  I survived with all internal organs in tact though.  I am working out again with the trainer on Friday and then doing a cardio workout on my own Saturday.  I think if I write my future workouts down I will be more apt to stick to them.

- I am so ready for the holiday weekend to start.  I need these 3 days off.

I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend.  Have as much fun as the law allows.  Have some wicked, delicious sexual fun for me.  And oh yeah, don’t forget to send me photographic evidence of said sexual fun.  Just kidding.  Probably. ;)

With the holiday weekend…

approaching rapidly there isn’t much time before the onslaught on family and friends hits me in 3 days.   It should be a good time as long as the weather holds out.  Thank goodness for swimming pools and cold beverages. :)

Life has been fairly mundane lately.  I worked out Sunday and Monday and I plan on going today and tomorrow.

Work is fairly quiet as a lot of clients are off this week.  No complaints from me as far as that goes.

Overall I am feeling good, physically and mentally.  I need to make sure to keep making time for myself and getting in enough down time.  One sure fire sign that I am feeling better is that I wake up hard and horny every morning.  I definitely want to keep up that trend in my life, and add a few others too it. ;)

I want to read more.  I have three books at home that I want to finish before the end of July.

It looks like that during my trip to Scotland I may get to take a side trip to Paris.  Not set in stone yet but I am working on it.

The next step in my eating improvement plan will be a change that could be tough for me.  I want to greatly reduce and get close to eliminating all artificial sweeteners from my diet.  That means no diet sodas, no diet energy drinks, no flavored waters, etc.  After examining my eating and reading labels, there are too many other additives and crap in those things that I should not be putting in my body.  This is not going to be an easy habit for me to change though.  I drink diet sodas and energy drinks every day.  I will not try to stop cold turkey but I will do it in stages.

I still have times when I battle cravings.  Ice cream is a real weakness especially when it is hot.  I am using fruit or greek yogurt as a substitute.  So far it seems to be working most of the time.

I have been in the office an hour already and I am still alone.   My boss is out all morning.  Four others are gone for the week.  The other two people still haven’t shown up.   This would be the perfect opportunity to have some naughty fun.  Alas,  there are no playmates around.  Damn my luck. *L*

If I don’t make it back to post tomorrow, have a safe, happy and fun-filled 4th of July weekend!!

We are finally…

getting much needed rain here in Houston.  See:

June has been unusually hot.  And not in the fun, sexual way either. *L*

I am working on a story, complete fiction unfortunately.  I hope to get it posted within the next week.

As of last night I have 25 relatives invading my house on July 5th.  Thank goodness the party is only one day.

I blew my diet last night at a local Tex-Mex place.  So yeah.  I need to hit the gym tomorrow for sure.

I need some naughty little thing to bend over my lap and spank…

I need to get the new camera soon so I can take some photos and practice using it.  Maybe this weekend if I can find the right price.  And finally decide which camera.

I am not much in the mood to work this week.  My focus seems to be on anything but working.  Thank goodness next week is a short week.

I know it’s been a long time…

since I posted anything.  Life, as it happens to from time to time, threw me a couple of curve balls.  Fortunately everything is working out and most things are pretty much back to normal.  I have been meaning to post over the last 2 - 3 weeks but every time I started to write I seemed to get side tracked.  So here is a brief and incomplete summary of life since my last post

1. My mom was diagnosed with a blood condition similar to leukemia.  She has been undergoing treatment and is making great progress.  I am obviously very thankful about this and I am hopeful she will make a complete recovery.  Her Dr. is very optimistic that she will.

2. I have been on a couple of business trips or I guess you could say one really long one.  I left one Sunday for Los Angeles and stayed there working for 4 days.  Then I flew to Buffalo, NY and worked for 3 days.  Then I came home and slept.

3.  I am not working as much as I used to.  I still have long days but I am now taking most weekends off and leaving at a reasonable time most nights.

4.  I am still working out semi-regularly.  My eating is better overall but there are times when I fall off the wagon.  Damn you Tex Mex and BBQ.  And ice cream. Damn you ice cream.

5. I am having about 20 family members at my house for a party on July 5th.  Yep, not the 4th but the 5th.  I am the most non-redneck member of my family, which is not saying a whole lot.  It should be interesting to say the least.

6.  I have a vacation planned for September.  I am heading to Scotland to stay with friends for 10 days.  I am really looking forward to this.  I am hoping to make a couple of football (soccer) games, fish and make it to the Highlands again.

7.  I have been hitting a few summer movies.  Indiana Jones and Iron Man so far.  Maybe the Hulk this weekend.  I am looking forward to Batman.  Yeah I go for the real sophisticated stuff. *L*

8. I have had a lot of cravings lately.  Sexual and food cravings.  I imagine I have a better chance of getting some turtle soup than I do fucking some hot, willing naughty lady over my desk.  Oh well.  I really do like turtle soup.

9.  I am reading a book about the dust bowl, “The Worst Hard Time”.  If you are a fan of non fiction and American History, this book is outstanding.

10.  I have been listening to the latest release from Al Green on my iPod.  As well as the soundtrack from the musical “Jersey Boys”.  I am a bit eclectic for a Cajun. *L*

11.  I am learning more of the business at work.  I will be buying into the company in another couple of years.  I have a lot to pick up in the meantime but I am excited about the future.  If I can make the effort and do what I need to I should be fairly comfortable financially.  Nothing is guaranteed of course but I enjoy this so much more than working for a big company.

12.  The death of George Carlin was a real downer for me.  I have been a fan of his since I was 11 or 12.  My mom let me listen to his albums back in the day.  While I may not have agreed with everything he said he was an absolute genius.  He will be sorely missed.

13. I am making myself a promise to post at least twice a week.  Hopefully more but at least that much.

14.  I have decided on the new camera I want, a Nikon D 60.  I think.  Maybe a D 40.  Or a Cannon.  Oh well, I guess I had better shop some more.

15.  For the first time that I can remember I am not excited about the Olympics coming up.  Not sure why that is.

Well that is enough for now.  I have more thoughts that I want to share but I need to get them a bit more organized before I do.

Some positive news…

On the first of this month I embarked on a weight loss endeavor.  My main goals were to lose a reasonable amount of weight and get into 10K running shape by my birthday in August.  I really started at the end of March so it has been roughly two weeks into this.  I have been walking/running on the treadmill at least 3 times a week for 40 minutes.  Mostly I do this during lunch during the week and then once on the weekend.  For eating I have switched to a higher protein intake, reducing/eliminating processed foods and sugars.  I would love to get off of artificial sweeteners but I am not there yet by any means.  Baby steps I suppose.  So today I weighed in.  I am down 7 lbs in two weeks.  I know this amount of weight loss per week will not continue, but the progress is nice.   So that is my good news for today.

Work is good. Busy but I am enjoying it.  I have some stories that are in work but still not finished.  I do need to improve in this area. :)  Baby steps.  :D

Sorry about my…

absence. Last week had me out of the office a lot and I did not get around to posting like I wanted to. Oh well, a new week so I need to at least say something.

The Redheaded Tomboy tagged me to write a six word sexual memoir. Hmmm. Let’s see. How about

Tall stressed man always wanting sex

Does that work? :)  I checked around and most blogs I read have done this.  But if anyone who may stumbl upon this wants to do it, please do.  And let me know you did. :)

I am slowly making it around to blogs to catch up with everyone.

An article…

about the city I reside in. I feel this article is fair and points out a lot of attitude in Houston. I never thought about our attitude being different though. The article is a bit long but I enjoyed it…of course I am kind of a geek like that.
